On Tuesday 3rd May, as part of the school’s ‘Wild Flower Project’ Mrs Broomhead came to support and help the children plant their seeds, in trays and the new vegetable plot. Wild flowers are part of the vegetable plot regime as they help to attract the pollinating insects needed for a successful crop.
They planted potatoes, that have been ‘chitting’ in school for the last few weeks, peas and onions into the team plots and finally tomatoes into their individual plant pots for growing indoors while the weather is cold. Lets hope summer is around the corner!
Carrots, radishes, spring onions and beetroots were planted in trays to germinate before being potted on and eventually set in the prepared bed.
This mini project is part of the schools ‘Young Enterprise Project’ for key stage 2 children.
