WOW! What an absolutely super day we all had working with the Peak District National Park’s Engagement Team in Macclesfield Forest. The weather was wonderful and it matched the mood of everyone throughout the day as they undertook activities investigating and exploring the locality looking for evidence of habitats, wildlife and changes to the environment.
The field trip supported the content of the science and geography curriculum and served as consolidation and assessment of this work as staff listened to children’s comments, deductions reasoning and problem-solving ideas as they immersed themselves into the tasks and activities. However, the visit also provided the opportunity to develop social and communication skills, whilst working in a contrasting locality to the school.
A huge thanks must go out to Frances and her team who made the day so memorable. We can’t wait until the next opportunity to be working together.
