The Pupil Premium Grant is allocated to schools to enable them to:
• Raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap with their peers
• Support children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces

The DfE offer the following guidance:

In most cases the Pupil Premium is allocated to schools and is clearly identifiable. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium allocated to schools per Free School Meal (FSM) pupil, is spent since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.

However they also state that:

Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However they will be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families.

Pupil Premium Funding at Hartington C of E Primary School has been used to maintain a high level of staffing.  The increase in teacher hours from 0.7 to 0.9 and teaching assistant hours (Level 2 TA) to provide more focused and personalised teaching. This will improve attainment in maths and literacy and raise standards for targeted pupils especially in writing, spelling and grammar and ultimately increase attainment at KS2 for all pupils, including those who are in receipt of the pupil premium.
