We had a wonderful Macmillan Coffee morning on Friday 30th September. Parents, governors and members of the community joined the children to have coffee/tea/juice and cake supplied by the expert bakers of Hartington village. The school was over flowing with children and adults, we even had ‘walk-ins’ off the street, the event was very well attended! This year we managed to raise a fantastic £566.45 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The school continues to host this event in the memory off Mrs Bell Kerr who supported the charity for many years working alongside the children and community.
One village member, who was unable to attend due to being in hospital, stated that the coffee & walnut cake was very tasty, after being taken a slice.
To help make the day a little more special, the visitors were entertained by the children who performed ‘Street Dances’ taught by the ‘Street Dancing’ facilitator ‘Jack’ from the day before. He was quoted saying ‘ I can’t believe how quickly the children have learnt the moves. I have been teaching many years and I still have older children that find the routines difficult to memorize for performance.
