On Friday 22nd October the whole school attended Lea Green for the day. This was to make up for the disappointment of not being able to attend the residential visit at the end of the summer term.
The activities undertaken were an Adventure trail, Star Course Orienteering, Low Ropes Course and Soft Play.
Despite it pouring with rain when the children left Hartington, the day brightened out and they had a fantastic time.
The children thoroughly enjoyed a search in the woodland area looking for animal and insect markers. They then had the opportunity to hunt for real minibeasts, finding a wide selection! This was followed by an orienteering course, with some fabulous map reading taking place by the children. They then scoured the Lea Green grounds looking for stars of many colours. It was great to see such teamwork between older and younger children.
After a picnic lunch the children challenged themselves on the Low Ropes Course. Every child climbed the rope ladder A frame, pushing themselves beyond their comfort zone to reach the summit then descending down other side. The tyre scramble was a daunting obstacle for many of the children but again, each child overcame their nerves with the support and encouragement of their friends, to master this challenge.
The afternoon concluded with a session in the soft play area, thoroughly enjoyed by all of the children, before returning to school and looking forward to the half term break.
