Forging Friendships

On Thursday 19th April a group of children from Winsford High Street Community Primary School in Cheshire visited our school to experience life in a  small rural village.

The school was on a residential visit to Hartington Youth Hostel staying two nights. The party consisted of 72 year 2 children.

15 of their pupils joined us for the morning and were introduced to the  tradition of May Pole Dancing, expertly taught by our children. The rehearsals will culminate in an annual May Pole performance in the Village Hall on Sunday 27th May at 12:30.

Both schools then went out into the community to complete the Village Trail with the Hartington children teaching their partner from Winsford about life in the village and some of its history.

The pupils from Winsford found it hard to grasp that the 17 children they were introduced to was the whole school and not just one class. Their class had  25 pupils and 509 in the whole school.

Their class teacher expressed a wish that they would introduce May Pole dancing at their school so next year when they visit Hartington again all the children would be experts and perform professionally together.
