Community Lunch & Retirement of beloved member of staff

During the final week of term, the children enjoyed a visit to the pantomime of Cinderella performed at the Opera House in Buxton. This is a tradition both pupils and staff enjoy and it was wonderful to see how animated they all were during the performance.

Then later on the final day of the autumn term, the school came together with parents, governors and our friends in the community in celebration of Christmas and the recognition of service by a former member of staff who retired earlier in the term, Mrs Anne Stubbs.

The day began with members from the catering service, former work colleagues and staff from Biggin school, visited the school and shared a big English breakfast with her and the children. Mrs Stubbs was presented with a range of gifts in recognition of her hard work and dedication to the children and staff of both schools. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate her 39 years of service both here at Hartington and at Biggin Schools.

This was followed by a traditional Christmas turkey dinner, with Christmas pudding, tea, coffee and mince pies to finish. A huge thanks to Katie Kitchen for all her hard work for creating a delicious lunch!

We would also like to wish Mrs Stubbs all the best in her retirement but hope she will still pop in and see us from time to time.
