Our pupils have been busy gathering food and refreshments as part of their harvest festival celebrations to pass on to Ashbourne Food Bank. The school children visited the food bank last month to learn more about the work that is carried out there and how important it is to local people.
Then following a special Harvest Service today in St Giles Church the hampers of food will be delivered to the food bank. In previous years the donations for Harvest have been handed out to elderly residents of the village but this year it was decided the charity would be a worthy recipient of the hampers.
Following a visit to the food bank the secretary of the PCC quoted ‘A small school teaching everyone that we can all love our neighbour in a big way!’
