On Friday 27th May, the Children of Hartington C of E Primary School were delighted to welcome Peace Proscovia from Uganda, back to have lunch with them and then play some netball before teaching her about Maypole Dancing. Peace who is the Captain of Uganda National Netball Team is currently part of the Loughborough Lightning Netball Squad which play in the England Netball Super League competition –the premier league for England Netball Players. She is studying for the next 2 years at Loughborough University. Her first visit to the school in 2015 was a great opportunity for the children to learn firsthand about the culture and life in an African Country. Through Peace we are establishing a link with her School. She has overcome many adversities during her life to be able to follow a life in sport where she is dedicated to empowering other women and girls to realise their true potential. Peace believes that it is her Christian faith which has enabled her to stay strong and realise her dreams.
To quote Peace:- ” The children in this school are very special – they are so kind and welcoming – they make me very happy. I learn from them just as they learn from me. I look forward to seeing them again later this year”
