What a great morning the children had on Wednesday 22nd November, when the local authority Recycling Team visited the school bringing along the vehicle for them to inspect and ask questions. The visit concluded work being taught within the geography and PSHE curriculums regarding the importance for caring for God’s World and reducing their carbon footprint. The children enjoyed taking part in the interactive tasks and activities and sorting a range of materials into the correct container, which at times they found quite challenging!
The facilitators who delivered the sessions said how impressed they were with the children and how they were able to answer many of the questions asked, demonstrating their developing understanding of this universal challenge.
One of the younger children quoted,
“I loved looking at the vehicle that came to school and watching the bin being lifted into the back and the recycling being emptied into it. The arm looked like it belonged to a giant!”
Staff reported back that the children couldn’t ‘get enough’ of watching the hydraulic arm going up and down which caused great excitement amongst them, so much so they can’t wait for the next visit.
A huge thank you from us all for making the event so hugely successful.
