On Wednesday 12th July the whole school visited Under Whitle Farm, Sheen to pilot a trail devised from the ‘Peeling Back the Layers’ archaeological project. This has been put together by Dr Catherine Parker Heath , Elsbeth and Paul Walker. The trail has been design for educational visits and families visiting the area.
We had an interesting morning following the trail and identifying areas that artifacts had been uncovered during the archaeological dig which the pupils were lucky enough to have taken part in back in summer 2016. Following the walk the children went up into the barn to undertake some time line activities and investigate some of the artifacts found during the dig and discover who inhabited Under Whitle Farm many years ago.
This was followed by a picnic lunch and a run around in the field before heading back to school. An enjoyable morning was had by all. The open day and launch of the trail is on Sunday 16th July 2017. Good Luck!
