Netball

On a lovely, sunny, April day there was great excitement as five children set off to join years 3 and 4 from Biggin to play High 5 Netball at QEGS. We had a “Secret Weapon”, Peace Proscovia from Uganda who is studying at Loughborough University and playing netball for the Super League team ‘Loughborough Lightning’.

Peace is a special friend of Hartington School having visited us several times over the past 3 years. She has introduced us to a school in Northern Uganda and Hartington Children have made contact with them through letters about themselves.

She spent a great deal of time helping the children both on and off the court and was a key factor to us realising a very creditable position – 4th out of 9 Schools. On arrival back at school she joined in with the children as they said prayers at the end of the day.

She will be back in the summer term – the next challenge – ‘Maypole Dancing’ which the children are keen to teach her.
