On Thursday 12th of September we were joined by Phil from Severn Trent to learn all about water.
We learnt about the processing cycle of water and how it comes from the rivers and is cleaned in approximately 3 hours, ready to be piped to our homes where we can use it for so many different things. There are enough clean water pipes to go around the world three and a half times!
Severn Trent supplies 1.8 billion litres of fresh, clean drinking water every day! Water is such a precious resource we couldn’t live without so it’s important we all do our bit to look after it. By playing ‘Higher or Lower’ the children were able to think about the amount of water used for different activities and how we can adapt the things we do so that we don’t use as much water.
Phil was joined by enthusiastic volunteers who dressed up to help present this to the rest of the school.
There was plenty of giggles, and everyone had a lot of fun.
To conclude the assembly we all made a promise to use water wisely in the bathroom by turning off the tap when brushing our teeth, taking shorter showers and only filling the bath up half way.
