On Thursday 12th October, Dawn Monk and Karen Mycock (Healthy Child Assistant Practitioners) presented the school with the Derbyshire Healthy Schools Community Award. This is an initiative we have been working towards for the past twelve months and is an excellent achievement and linked seamlessly into last years School Improvement Plan (SIP).
The children have undertaken Peer Buddy training, had visits from the local PCSO Anthony Boswell, who talked about the Actions and Consequences of Crime and Stranger Danger. The year 5/6 children were taught all about the effects of smoking and the danger to health. Also parents were invited to attend an ‘Raising Awareness and Understanding of E-Safety’ by Dawn & Karen.
The work culminated in the collation of a portfolio of evidence which was submitted to the award panel for approval which resulted in the school receiving this prestigious award.
