Fire Safety Talk

Fire Safety Talk Wednesday 23rd March 2016.

extinguishersSheila from the Fire Safety Services came to talk to our children about keeping fire safe at home and school. She introduced a variety of possible fire hazards, which could happen in a typical home, which the children related to.  All of the children could explain our evacuation procedure at school but only a few had talked at home about what to do in the event of a fire. Sheila? had a power point presentation that showed just how quickly a fire can get out of control and emphasised the need for working fire alarms in our own homes. She explained how to test that the alarms were working regularly because sometimes the battery power can run out. The children realised the importance of fire safety and felt that they could go home and explain the hazards to their parents. Everyone promised to test that their smoke alarms were in good working order that evening and when I checked the next day, the majority had done so. We left the talk feeling positive about keeping our homes safe.
