Super Hero Day

Wednesday 28th April saw the staff and children dress up as a super hero of their choice in order to raise money for the local Air Ambulance Service which is an invaluable service in such a rural location.

Staff were amazed to see heroes from all walks of life both fictitious and living. This included Emily Pankhurst, Boris Johnson, James Bond, Spiderman, NHS workers, doctors, teachers, parents, farmers, Wonder Women, Frozen’s Elsa, the schools catering officer and some of the staff came as the children themselves.

The day involved our Super Heroes taking part in the Archbishop of York’s Young Leaders Award activities demonstrating the skills of Perseverance, Kindness, Action and Team Work. In the afternoon they continued to prepare for a future fundraiser which will take part later in the term.

A member of staff heard a child comment ‘ I’ve had a fun day dressed as my Mum because she is my ‘Super Hero’.  Another child stated ‘I’ve dressed as my teacher because all the teachers are brilliant and they work so hard to make school interesting, I couldn’t wait to come back to school after the lockdown because I had missed them and my friends’.
