A Sad End to a Rocky Year!

The staff and children were heartbroken when it was announced that the school would have to close  a week earlier than anticipated due to a confirmed case of Covid 19. Since the school is classed as one bubble everyone had to go into isolation for the following ten days. The children were sad and disappointed to miss their two days at Lea Green undertaking activities which had already been altered from a residential stay due to the effects of the pandemic. But even more upsetting  was that we were also unable to say our customary farewell to our year 6 pupils who will be transitioning to secondary school in September. The planned evening of a takeaway, film and quiz was unable to take place, but this won’t be the last time we see them I’m sure!

Luckily we did have a fun day where the children cooked their own lunch on Monday 12th July. This involved making pizzas, scones, jam tarts, fruit kebabs and biscuits which were all consumed before the end of the school day. The following day they were involved in an afternoon of games and activities delivered by Jess from Real PE outside in the sun shine.

Following the session Jess thanked the children and said “I had a great afternoon, thank you all for making me feel so welcome.”

One of the children responded by saying “I’ve had the best afternoon ever, these sessions have been so much fun.”

The children were then very pleased to find out that ‘Real PE’ is here to stay within our curriculum next year.
