Our first week back at school in September was Well Dressing week, 4th-6th of September 2024.
This year we had a design that celebrated 200 years of the RNLI. Through collective worship sessions the children learnt about the importance of this organisation and made links to their own experiences of going on holiday to the seaside and how the RNLI are still there today to help people who get into distress on the sea.
Each of the children had the opportunity to be involved in petalling the well, supported by members of the community who came to help us. They explored the natural materials we were using and thought about why these are used to complete the well dressing.
The well dressing was then displayed in the village ready for the blessing of the wells on Saturday 7th of September. The following Monday we walked down to see it in place and could fully appreciate the beauty of our hard work.
